What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are permanent tooth replacements consisting of a titanium post surgically placed into the jawbone, an abutment, and a custom-made dental crown. They function like natural teeth, restoring your ability to eat, speak, and smile with confidence.

The Procedure

  1. Consultation & Evaluation – Our dentist will assess your oral health, take X-rays, and determine if you’re a good candidate for dental implants.

  2. Implant Placement – A titanium post is surgically placed into the jawbone to serve as the artificial tooth root.

  3. Healing & Osseointegration – Over the next few months, the implant fuses with the jawbone to create a strong foundation.

  4. Abutment Placement – Once healed, an abutment is attached to connect the implant with the final restoration.

  5. Final Restoration – A custom-made crown, bridge, or denture is secured to the implant for a fully restored smile.

FAQ

  • How long do dental implants last?
With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime, though the crown may need replacement after 10-15 years.
  • Are dental implants better than dentures?
Implants provide a permanent, stable solution that prevents bone loss and does not require adhesives, unlike traditional dentures.
  • Am I a candidate for dental implants?
Candidates should have good overall health, adequate jawbone density, and healthy gums. Our team will evaluate your condition to determine the best treatment plan.
  • Is the procedure painful?
Local anesthesia is used during surgery, minimizing discomfort. Some soreness may occur post-surgery, but it can be managed with prescribed or over-the-counter pain medication.
